Intentional Mental State

"The power of minds and mental states to be about, to represent, or to stand for, things, properties and states of affairs" [1]

Mental states can include, but are not limited to: beliefs and desires.
Intentional mental states are doxastic as opposed to epistemic in nature.
These are psychological states that cause agents to act, and it's what agents appeal to when they explain what they're doing. [2]

Intentional states are an important part of Mandik's definition of a CT, requiring that agents involved in a conspiracy must be intentional about committing the event and maintaining secrecy.
