Britney Spears, Is It A CT?

Using Coady's Definition

Coady's Definitionof conspiracy theories has several parts, all which are necessary in order to constitute a conspiracy theory. This page analyses the Britney Spears conspiracy with regards to Coady's definition.

Proposed Explanation of A Historical Event

This theory does not focus on the explanation of one specific historical event, but several. It alleges that Britteny Spears was used as an agent in order to cover up the Bush administration's action and that her presence in the news distracted the people from Bush’s activities on at least five different occasions between January of 2004 and March of 2007. This conspiracy explains why Brittneys spears had major breakdowns on days which coincided with major news about the actions of the united states government breaking.

Agents Acting Secretly In Concert (Conspiracy) Has A Significant Causal Role

The Agents, in this case, are either the government, Spears’ manager Sam Lufti, or the Illuminati. There are no clear and specific agents being accused of involvement in orchestrating Spears’ actions, although the government has used artists in the past in order to influence popular perception, so it is not out of the realm of possibility for there to have been some agents unknown to us involved in this conspiracy. Although the agents themselves are not defined rigorously by the conspiracy theory, and it is unclear who is thought to have been involved.

Conspiracy Must Have Brought About The Event

The theory concludes that Spears’ actions were caused by this conspiracy, but not the actions of the US Government. The agents brought about the events that caused spears to distract the public from the news media.

Conflicting With An ‘Official’ Story

There is not an ‘official’ story with which this contradicts, they are considered separate by the government who has never specifically denied the involvement of Spears. Although it is possible to assume that the official story is one thought by the majority of the public, in which Spears was not connected to the US government, but since there is no one championing this idea it is not really an official story.

++Conclusion
According to Coady’s definition, this proposed conspiracy theory is not actually a conspiracy theory. It does not meet all the qualifications of Coady’s definitions, there are no specific agents involved nor does it conflict with an official story. Therefore, this does not meet Coady's definition, since all conditions must be satisfied, so it is not a conspiracy theory.
